4Pi II Omnidirectional Tweeter Unit
360 degree omnidirectional sound: an 0.006mm aluminium ribbon forms the membrane, which due to its low weight shows an extroardinarily high sensitivity. When a current passes this membrane it expands and contracts like a breathing cylinder. Driven by a strong neodymium magnet system, the flexible ribbon yields maximum levels up to 53,000 Hz.
The 4Pi technology creates homogenous radiation of high
frequencies and offers homogenous sound propagation. Precise
imaging and a 360 degree omni-directional sound radiation
pattern results in an enlarged actual listening area.

Treble Unit
The JET tweeter is one of the most legendary tweeters in the hi-fi trade and has won international renown with its unusual transparent and effortless sound image.
The JET tweeter was delveloped to perfection on the basis of the famous 'Air Motion Transformer' by loudpseaker pioneer Dr Oskar Heil. Its principle: a concertinaed foil membrane is driven by a strong magnet system of neodymium rods.
This 'motor' drives the air considerably faster than the conventional pistonic technique. High sensitivity and extraordiary dynamics are the result. Due to continuous improvement, the JET III tweeter creates an effortless and airy resonance-free image up to 53,000 Hz, and with its linear frequency response is ideally suited for the reproduction of Hi-Res Audio music.
Midrange Unit
The MT 115 AS-XR midrange is designed in the ELAC proprietary aluminium sandwich technique. In a special glueing procedure, an crystal stamped aluminium foil is joint to a pulp fibre cone to form a sandwich membrane. The result: reduced partial oscillations, no distortions and an optimised large signal behaviour.
Low Midrange Unit
Even though it looks similar to the two drivers below, the differences for the 180 mm AS-XR cone low midrange driver are further reaching. The voice coil has a different length and the driver has very diferent electromechanical proprieties. This top 180 mm driver has a shorter voice coil and is in fact a second midrange, more specifically is a dedicated transducer for the "lower-midrange" frequency band and deals with the frequencies in the 200 - 800 Hz interval, in a separate, closed compartment. |

Bass Units
The woofers of the Spirit Of Music CE are designed in the ELAC proprietary aluminium sandwich technique. Due to the specially wide double asymmetrical ('DAS') rubber surround, ELAC's 180mm AS-XR woofers can handle up to ±15mm long stroke. This provides maximum level supply and mellow low bass. For a driver this size, such a large displacement represent a unique engineering achievement.
